Technology that makes my job as a Landscape Architect faster and more precise is one of my passions. When you spend less time on a project and have a more accurate data, you get better results. This web page briefly shows some of the technology I work with. 

 

I have been utilizing drone surveying for two years, and have flown as many school projects as possible. Using photogrammetry we are able to combine the photos taken with the drone and produce a point cloud. Point clouds are scaled 3D points used to measure distances, make models, or generate a contour map. 

I am a research assistant for Benjamin George, a professor at USU, who is currently experimenting with Virtual Reality systems. We are on the cutting edge of research, some of which Benjamin has published. This emerging technology will have huge impacts on our profession in the years to come.

The Goeple Residence
The Burgess Residence flown by drone and contours produced by using the drone's photos. 
This model was produced by inputting contour lines into a laser cutter and then gluing all the parts together. 
After I introduced these juniors to the technology they started building their designs in a 3D virtual space.
This is one of the designs one member of the class made after twenty minutes of effort. They were able to walk around in the design they had just made to see if it would be comfortable or not. 
Another design featured a bench and a green wall.
